Spectrum Health Systems provides comprehensive, evidence-based substance use disorder treatment, correctional healthcare, and reentry services designed to support individuals throughout their involvement in the criminal justice system and their transition back into the community.

Spectrum customizes its treatment services to meet the unique needs of each correctional setting, taking into consideration the facility’s mission, operational structure, population served, clinical priorities, and treatment needs.

Our continuum of care combines Medication for Addiction Treatment (MAT), Opioid Treatment Program (OTP) services, clinical assessment, individual and group counseling, care coordination, treatment planning, discharge planning, and reentry support. Services are individualized based on each person’s strengths, clinical needs, treatment readiness, risks, and recovery goals, with an emphasis on improving health outcomes, supporting sustained recovery, reducing the risk of overdose and recidivism, and promoting successful community reintegration.

Medication for Opioid Use Disorders
Spectrum’s MAT and OTP services support individuals with opioid use disorder through access to evidence-based medications as clinically appropriate, integrated with counseling, psychoeducation, care coordination, and recovery support. Services are designed to promote treatment engagement and retention while supporting continuity of medication and clinical care during incarceration, transitions between facilities, and reentry into the community.

Assessment Services
Clinical assessment is an integral part of treatment. Using evidence-based and research-validated assessment approaches, our clinical teams identify individual needs, readiness for change, appropriate levels of care, and treatment priorities. Individualized treatment may incorporate cognitive behavioral approaches, motivational enhancement strategies, relapse and overdose prevention, recovery education, development of pro-social skills, and individual and group counseling.

Reentry Programming
Reentry and continuity-of-care planning begin prior to release. Spectrum works with individuals to identify potential barriers and establish connections with community-based treatment and support services. Depending upon individual needs, planning may include continued MAT or OTP services, substance use disorder and behavioral health treatment, medical care, recovery supports, housing, employment, education, supervision requirements, and other essential community resources.

Following release, reentry and case management services can help individuals navigate the transition to community-based care, including connecting with treatment providers, facilitating continuity of medications and services, accessing housing and basic needs, attending initial appointments, and engaging with community resources and recovery supports.

Our goal is to provide an integrated continuum of treatment that addresses substance use disorder as a chronic health condition while equipping individuals with the clinical care, medications, skills, resources, and community connections necessary to sustain recovery and successfully reintegrate into their communities.

"I entered Spectrum’s detox at the lowest point in my life. While I was there, I took a tour of the residential program. I decided to try it because I did not want to go back to my old way of life.
