Spectrum Health Systems is pleased to announce the appointment of David Nefussy as the new vice president of business development. Reporting to Chief Operating Officer Sherry Ellis, Mr. Nefussy is responsible for leading Spectrum’s business development efforts including the cultivation of referral relationships and negotiating agreements with managed care organizations, third-party payors and private insurance companies. In this role, he will also work closely with Spectrum’s admissions department to facilitate timely admissions for individuals in need of services.
Mr. Nefussy previously served as the regional director of provider network services for MA, ME, NH, RI and VT at OPTUM Health, otherwise known as United Behavioral Health (UBH) where he was responsible for contracting and provider relations. Prior to UBH, he worked in a similar capacity for PacifiCare, Magellan, Beacon Health Strategies, Harvard Pilgrim Health Care and Private Health Care Systems.
In addition, Mr. Nefussy has worked with several committees around behavioral health/primary care integration, 2013 CPT Code changes and federal mental health parity, including the Massachusetts Association of Health Plans, Massachusetts Division of Insurance, Association of Behavioral Health and Massachusetts Association of Behavioral Health Systems.
“David has established an excellent reputation in the field having worked in managed behavioral health care for more than twenty-five years,” said Ellis. “In addition to being very knowledgeable about addiction treatment and mental health services, he is highly regarded for his customer orientation and strong relationship-building. In short, David loves what he does. We are very fortunate to have him join our team and help grow Spectrum’s continuum of services.”
